WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind (WLFI) -
Another race in Lafayette Saturday morning is raising donations for local Heroes.

More than 75 people came out for the Run for the Red 5K /10K Saturday morning.

The event is part of the Red Cross's Heroes Campaign.

The campaign raises money for various veteran services around the area.

Volunteer Services Director Liz Wallace says they hope to raise around $1,100 from Saturday's race.

"We're pretty excited with the turnout. It's a little lower than expected, but we were also competing against another couple of running events today that we know of. We are very happy that the rain managed to pass us by and we had pretty good weather for a run," said Wallace

Every spring the Red Cross holds the Heroes Campaign.

Wallace says the goal of the campaign is to raise $80,000.
